Advisory Council

 The Advisory Council guides and facilitates the work of World Links Arab Region (WLAR) in three main areas:

  • Strategy: The Advisory Council provides strategic guidance to help WLAR become the leading organization specifically devoted to bringing out the full potential of Arab youth through better education and knowledge-sharing. The Advisory Council substantially contributes to WLAR by focusing on supporting Arab societies to produce and diffuse knowledge through the proper use of technology in education.

  • Visibility and Networking: The Advisory Council promotes WLAR, enables it to implement educational programs for youth, and supports new initiatives that promote creative innovation and entrepreneurship in students. Moreover, the Council helps identify financial resources needed to ensure maximum program outreach in all Arab countries.

  • Expansion and Advocacy: The Advisory Council supports WLAR programs, assists in sharing lessons learned on a national strategic level in order to successfully scale-up at the national level and throughout the Arab countries. The Council also helps raise awareness of the importance of investing in the future of Arab youth through education and providing them with the needed skills in the modern day work force.

The Advisory Board Members

The Advisory Board of World Links Arab Region is honored with the prestigious membership of prominent international leaders in the fields of finance, education, child welfare and politics.

 

HM Queen Rania Al-Abdallah 

Queen Rania completed her school education in Kuwait and obtained a Bachelor's degree from the American University in Cairo. Her activities encompass issues of national concern including education, health, and youth, among others. She also has a special interest in several core issues such as promotion of innovation in education; improvement of the quality of life of the family unit; and the development of income-generating projects

  

HE First Lady Asma al-Assad

Mrs. Assad is a graduate of King's College Univ. of London / degree in Computer Science. She has an early professional career in Banking/ Mergers & Acquisition. Mrs. Asma Akhras Assad initiates and supports programs designed to foster economic development and improve the quality of life of the Syrian people. She Focuses on rural development and women’s issues, and brings experienced viewpoints and focuses on sustainable development.

 

HH Princess Zahra Aga Khan

Princess Zahra Aga Khan, daughter of H.H. the Aga Khan, was born 18 September 1970. She received her early education at Le Rosey School in Switzerland and graduated from Harvard University with a B.A. (Honours) degree in Development Studies in 1994. She is working at the Secretariat of H.H. at Aiglemont, in Gouvieux, France. Zahra is the Head of the Social Welfare Department (SWD) located within the Secretariat of the Aga Khan in France

 

 HE Mrs. Bahia Hariri

H.E. Bahia Hariri, born in 1952 in Saida is the Minister of Education at the new Cabinet. Mrs. Bahia Hariri heads the Hariri Foundation for Sustainable Development, an NGO aiming at supporting and empowering youth. She is Vice-President of the Arab Network of Non-Governmental Organizations. Mrs. Hariri was elected as deputy in the Lebanese Parliament (1992) and became head of its Educational Committee.

 

 Ms. Lubna S. Olayan

 Lubna Olayan is the Chief Executive Office  of the Olayan Financing Company, holding entity for the Olayan Group's operations in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.  She is also a member of the Board of Olayan Investment Co. Establishment, the parent company of The Olayan Group; A president of the Sulaiman S. Olayan Foundation, philanthropic arm of the Olayan Gdroup. She serves as a Board member of the Egyptian Financing Company/Egypt and as a Board member of Capital Union in Dubai.

  

Mrs. Elaine Ruth Wolfensohn

 For over 40 years, Elaine Wolfensohn has been involved in the field of education and arts education while raising her family. Her work in Australia and the United States has included teaching in private schools, creating teen tutoring programs in inner city schools, and training adult volunteers to tutor high school students. Mrs. Wolfensohn was educated at Wellesley College, where she received her B.A.

  

Mr. Saed Abdul-Latif

President of PepsiCo Int, ME, Africa, and Central Asia. PepsiCo is a Fortune 500 company with total sales of over $27 billion. As described by his colleagues and business partners, he is a consensus-builder who truly believes in inclusiveness and diversity in his leadership style. Mr. Abdul-Latif holds an M.B.A. from the American Graduate School of International Management and a B.A. in Public Administration from the American University of Beirut.
